I once heard Marshall McLuhan say that Johann Gutenburg made everybody a reader when he invented the printing press; and that Luciano "Stubby Nuts" Xerox made everybody a publisher when he invented the copying machine. So, what would McLuhan say today about the internets and such self-indulgent web sites and blogs as this one? I suppose he'd say "Finish writing the damn thing before you post it! First drafts are not meant to be widely circulated." Good point, I guess, but then again Mac would also appreciate the convergence of ubiquitous technology and short attention spans. So, here it is in all of its incomplete glory - my ongoing exercise in self-justification, sorted by arbitrary category.
